I have well over over 150 miles this week and still one more day to go. I did an easy 20 this morning with heavy cloud cover and a light sprinkle.
I enjoy the fact that my riding picks up as the weather gets hotter. Now if I could just break the 200lb mark. I've been stuck at 200.8 for the past week and a half.

take a food journal for a week, then subtract 500cal from your daily intake paired with excersize.

Rode 25 miles with the girlfriend doing errands and getting some river time. Now it's time to get drunk and go ride naked in the streets.

Today ( yesterday ) I did the hardest century I've ever done. Nearly 9k' of climbing with some double digit grades after the 70 mi mark. One of the descents was so steep and twisty I had to actually walk down, because my carbon wheels were screaming like I've never heard so I stopped and they were HOT to the touch.

Yeah, I've done that in the past, I'm just lazy and hoping my bike riding calorie burning will overtake my junk food/beer consumption. It has before. I just gotta ride more.

Up until I hit forty, I could out exercise any amount of food I ate, good food or not. Then, through my forties, it became impossible for me to out exercise poor food choices. I have done a lot of research this past year on this topic, because my wife and I are going to write our third book together on weight management. It is your choice, but if you are in your late thirties to forties, it is near impossible to out exercise poor eating choices. Also, the sooner you change some of the habits, even if very slowly, the easier it is going to be long term.

Today I am going back out on the same route as yesterday, one with brutal hills (brutal for me). But, yesterday I did it during record heat, given I just got my new bike
Even though I had eaten two meals and had just sucked down two large water bottles, I had sweated enough to weigh 1 1/2 pounds less than the morning. Today I will be getting out before the heat.

today I rode my bike (in single speed mode) to the highest spot in town. Unfortunately, stupid me crashed before the climb, so now I'm dealing with some road rash

I've been trying to lose a little weight/drink less, it's something that's been on the radar for a while, but my race performance last weekend really disappointed me and has given me new motivation.
I got dropped about 20min in (Cyclovets Crit Cat3 San Diego) and pulled myself from the race. Tough course that should suit me, featuring a short, steep kicker before the false flat leading into the finish. Courses like this suit me very well as I have a very strong kick (w/kg), but can't compete with larger sprinters in long, drag race kind of sprints. I do very well when there is some course feature that saps some of the speed off before people open up their sprint. I'm ~160lbs.
I had gone far into the red to take a $20 prime lap (got it), and just wasn't able to recover after, partially because of the challenging course with the hill, and partially because I had been at an all-day BBQ the day before where I ate a ****load of food and drank at least 7 IPA style beers.
My training has been good enough, but my lifestyle choices need to change if I ever want to upgrade to cat2. Since then, I've had increased motivation in training, and off the bike I've been drinking less. The fourth is coming up in a week, during which I will of course consume copious amounts of food an alcohol, but at least I will have put ~11hrs on the bike the week leading up to it, and will have a few drinks or less between now and then.

I quit smoking years ago. I quit drinking alcohol 2.5 years ago. I still eat like crap though, and now that I am into my 40's, it is catching up with me. Cycling clothing fits tighter than I want. Need to drop this Oreo habit like right now. I can kill a package off in less than a day. They suggest 2 cookies as a serving size. Srsly? One row is a serving size, depending on what kind you get. Gotta. Stop.

Yeah, it really puts your body through the ropes when you have more than a couple. On the day of, my resting HR was higher than normal, and my body just didn't want to recycle the lactic acid that I dumped into the system when grabbing the prime, it was too busy increasing the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase .

Nice! The little lady and I rolled WNBR on the tandem. First time I'd ever done it. Good time for sure. A couple of pretty sketch riders out there, but I only saw one crash, didn't really have any close calls personally.

Yeah, it starts a chain reaction due to the issues with the liver. But, if a person can keep it to a couple of beers with water, the impact is minimized. I have only given up two things in my forties, now 50. They are chocolate and diet coke, I just have no ability to eat/drink these in moderation. Alcohol, luckily for me, has been easily to moderate after my college years...

The ~19 hour days up here are crazy! Finished a 24 hour race in Yukon Territories earlier today. No headlights allowed, rode a lap in twilight and barely had to slow down. 8-person team of coworkers quickly became 4 people doing all the riding but we still got 3rd. Should have just done a 2-person team. I rode a naked lap for bonus points and didn't realize that it was part of the Naked Bike Ride Day! I thought I would hate riding naked but it felt amazing.

Today I am very much regretting getting greedy and letting some guy talk me out of my 20+ yr companion at the trailhead yesterday
I've been feeling strong lately so, after using it as my urban warrior bike for the past year, put the knobbies back on my old Stumpy and took it to a MTB park for a workout. When I was unloading it, all the youngsters told me I was crazy to try riding "a bike like that" on the trails. I invited a few to ride with me and some took me up. Of course I stayed away from advanced trails and was passed alot. Then when I got back to the parking lot a guy who had seen me riding asked how much I would sell for. I threw out what I thought was a ridiculously high price, and damned if he didn't agree - no haggling. Followed him to an ATM and off they went.
TL;DL? Goodbye ol' friend...

I may be wrong, but I'd like to think I know the general value of my bikes and added a couple hundy to what I figured this one is worth. Perhaps what I thought was ridiculously high for it would not meet your expectations...but the fact is that high or low, for now I am suffering seller's regret. I'll get over it...

I almost sold my Paramount P14 track bike once when I was no longer racing and living in apartments, but fortunately I held onto it. It is now a museum piece, but not a day does by that I don't look at it and admire it's classic beauty. Just having beautiful things brings me great joy.

Off to see the Butt Doc this afternoon. Had saddle sores the past two weeks I haven't been able to get rid of. Due to a lot of riding on the trainer during the period of endless Texas rains, trying a different saddle and wearing some cheaper shorts on the shorter trainer rides.
