Not defending the quality of the bike, but in defense of its weight: the bianchi super pista's carbon/alu fork comes in at 560g, as does the Cinelli Vigorelli fork (they may be the same fork, I have no idea). Does anyone know the weights of Leader's carbon/alu forks? I haven't been able to find them with my internet sleuthing. But, 500g doesn't seem comparably heavy for a fork thats not all carbon.

seems you can get the mataro frame alone without the "crappy" aluminium fork. any thoughts on that? for the price it seems pretty good and they now offer a carbon fork..

I bought a Mataro as my first tarck biek - here it is during todays miles. Everything here is stock except for lights, bar tape, chain, chicken wing tektro brake lever - and I switched the 44t front for a 46.

I don't have any complaints about the bike whatsoever. It takes the same **** as any other bike would and there is nothing wrong with it. The wields are as weildy as any other factory aluminum bike. It is a relatively light, solid fixed gear bike that looks cool. It's not ****ing rocket science. If you want one and have the money, you should get one, because in my experience it has been totally ****ing worth it.

Yes the full aluminum fork is crappy and heavy. Just don't buy the fork! The seatpost slips if you don't tighten the wedge to the 31nm torque spec (which is a lot). Dropouts don't slip. The welds look great. The frame is stiff and strong enough for 37mph flying 200's. I think it looks pretty cool with the hydroformed toptube. What else do you want in a frame?

The main problem that others have pointed out is that the frame set comes with a road fork (with long rake) which makes the handling too fast on the track (at least for me). I swapped to a 28mm rake fork and have had no issues with it.

Considering the price, it is a great frame. You wont find anything better for less. Just put a 28mm rake fork on it if you are running it on the track

the seat post slips? and wouldnt 28 mm rake create a lot of toe overlap? if using it for riding in the city wouldnt you want to keep the 45mm rake as that is the rake that the bike was designed for?

A kid came into my shop complaining that a wheel we sold him didn't fit into his new frame. Upon inspection I found the rear dropouts of his Aventon were spaced at 129mm and the rear triangle was misaligned.

Have you seen this issue in more than one frame? i mean it could just be a defective frame. I'm sure if he calls the manufacturer they'll work with him. That's just my guess.

im trying to buy this bike. theyre selling it complete on city grounds for like 539, and its complete. My question is can i find another brand new complete bike on a website like city grounds for about the same price with better parts???

i have. it is basically a leader 721. ditch the fork. my bud just snapped his on his mataro. the cool thing though, aventon replaced it free even though the bike was bought on craigslist. didn't see that coming. not a bad frame.

i have this bike… and off of city grounds. the frame had a seat post issue where it slides side to side basically no matter how much you tighten it. i finally got that under control and then i was hearing a strange creaking noise that sounded like loose spokes. turns out it was the seatpost scraping against the inside of the frame any time i sat more than halfway back on the seat. that's squared away now too. the stock necco parts from CG that make the drivetrain sound like a mix of having baseball cards in the spokes and a dirt bike. the chainring is not even almost circular so that was that issue. the wheels themselves weigh just over ten pounds so hills are hell. also the hubs on the wheels must have been cleaned poorly because i was riding down hill, slowed with a skid, went to do another one to speed check and the lock ring unthreaded, followed by the entire cog and i had to drop to the top tube and slide to a stop with my feet. when i was replacing the cog i noted there were tons of metal filing left in the threads. so either it came off the cog or the actual hub. whichever it was.. it sucked. the bike itself is nice and light.. the welds are nice (excluding over the rear tire i guess they got lazy back there). it needs a carbon fork or its a little unforgiving.

overall… the frame isn't top of the line, based on the money the seatclamp issue is pretty minor and was fixable. the biggest suggestion since you've probably made up your mind and you'll probably buy this anyways.. just buy the frame and build the rest. it seems like more money after first but it's more money to by the 700 or whatever complete and THEN get new better parts. i'm already over a grand getting middle of the road parts on mine. i would have done better to not pay that extra money for the parts that came on it. i think the frame alone is what 200? i'd say do that. but really i'd say pick another bike in the range that won't give you ANY problems.

they're all the same piece of crap frames. 17teeth, crew district, aventon, unkown, etc.
Get on ebay, find a closeout 721 or 725. Spend a couple hundred extra and build your own bike.
You'll be glad you did, as you'll end up with an 18 pound bike that rides well versus a 26 pound piece of crap.

plus 1. do it yourself this time because you'll only regret not building it yourself when you have a bike you aren't happy with. it's the only way i have found to get it EXACTLY how i wanted it.

As soon as they release the new Mataro frames in the new colors as just frames, I'm getting one. I had a Cordoba before, only sold it because I decided I didn't like the color.
