Aventon Mataro?
https://aventonbikes.com/
Has anybody heard of these? After spending too much time googling, I haven't found a review or forum post. They look fairly legit, but I was wondering if anybody has actually ridden one that can tell me about it. For 350 w/ free shipping (https://www.citygrounds.com/aventon/a...-frameset-3075) this seems a little too good to be true. From the Aventon website, these are hydroformed, hand polished, and hand welded aluminum bikes. But still, for only 350? There's gotta be a catch.

Other than the 45mm rake fork, it has some pretty nice geometry, and accepts a standard seat post.
Literally the only thing I don't like is the aluminum road fork. Swap it for a carbon track fork and the thing looks solid as hell.
double sided track end inserts too, **** me.

Absolutely. Just don't expect a 1500 dollar frame, haha. Expect a 350 dollar frame and be impressed.
This looks on part with Al Leaders and the Langster Pro.
This is added to my list of Kilo replacements.
bonus points if it has removable decals.

Sure.
Anyway, it looks like a great frame for the price. I'd like to see some reviews, and others' opinions on it.

I know a little bit about where/how those frames are made and personally, I wouldn't ride one if it was free.
Fun fact: the "smooth welds" don't look like that in real life.

I paid $51 for my VISP, which is prolly comparable to that frameset. I wouldn't pay $350 for a VISP. Note that they don't mention its weight. I'll bet it's a boat anchor just like my VISP.

I sent them an email. They said that the framesets (frame+fork+headset) are about 5 lbs. Have any of you guys actually seen or ridden them? I'm still sorta interested. From all of the pictures I've seen, those welds look pretty damn smooth.

Like I said, a boat anchor.

Did they actually say "about 5 lbs"? If I made frames, I imagine I'd be able to give a more precise figure than that to people who asked about my product.

A 300 gram range is just as bad, if not worse, than "about 5 lbs".

I would say wait a little until people starts writing reviews on that frame, then if you see good reviews, why not try it out!

FWIW (not much) they are currently the frame sponsor for WolfpackA.
5lbs is ridiculously heavy for a (non-steel) track bike, though.

I respect your confidentiality, I would just like to see the frame first hand or see a reputable review of it before I judge the frameset.
