Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? So the Man ordered his Boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn't gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: "Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along."

Well, the Man didn't know what to do, but at last he took his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had come to the town, and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said: "Aren't you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor donkey with you and your hulking son?"

The Man and Boy got off and tried to think what to do. They thought and they thought, till at last they cut down a pole, tied the donkey's feet to it, and raised the pole and the donkey to their shoulders. They went along amid the laughter of all who met them till they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, getting one of his feet loose, kicked out and caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge, and his fore-feet being tied together he was drowned.

"That will teach you," said an old man who had followed them: "Please all, and you will please none."
that was a great read. +1 =]

That, I think, is a different discussion. That's more a matter of value per dollar, and most folks here don't think the low-end State bikes really deliver that, but that horse has been beaten to death already.

Just build it, ride it, and enjoy it. It's your bike, so yours is the opinion that's important anyway.

I want to see pics when it's done, too. I'm a tad curious how that fork will look with the frame.

(FWIW, I, personally, like the look of the FSA cranks better than the Omniums)

Cool. But, just don't be a shill...BF doesn't like shills. They'll run you out of here on a rail.

If you are selling/promoting products, just be up front with it. We'll accept and respect that more.

BF members are pretty good at sniffing out shills and puppets. They are watching you.

Watch away then. I again, do not have anything to do with State, just a customer.
Also its not like I go other peoples threads and tell them their bike is garbage and to buy a State.

Whatever.. I give up on it.
That's just an opinion on the other poster's comment.

Whether or not I would spend that money on that bike, I think you should do whatever makes you happy and spend your money however you want. I certainly don't want anyone telling me how to spend my hard earned money. Obviously from your posts you have plenty of disposable income so don't let anyone here dissuade you from doing what makes you happy. Enjoy the bike and post pics!

I spent $650 on my Pre Cursa build and I got flamed all day so you can't win on this forum.

There's nothing wrong with being a fan of a product/company in which you believe. I'm a fan of Nike, Apple, U of Alabama, etc...

Perhaps the root of both problems is that you bought two State bikes.

I just can't imagine spending that kind of money on a state bike. It doesn't even have gears. Whatever, have a good time hooning around on it.

Were you actually able to do this? It looks like your parts are coming in one by one.

They had an undefeated there that I could sit on touch, look at, etc. It was one of the owners bikes I believe.

Frame was there ready to go, but I went just went with stuff they dont stock or normally sell, so I just had to wait for my stuff to come in.

No that fork is mine. I wanted the Undefeated fork but they didnt have one in stock when I placed the order. So I am getting the Undefeated fork.

The Essor carbon fiber wheels... from what I know these exact ones are not available for sale yet?? I am trying to get a price on them, but havent heard back yet.

I keep getting anxious for it and keep pushing them for the bike, but the wheels havent come in yet.
