Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yes 25 gatorskins would work fine but 23s I east them up. It's not that the streets are that bad but I ride really aggressively and pot holes and things like that come up and it pinches my tires when I'm 23s

Whenever I read about somebody "riding aggressively" I just picture them riding around pissed off all the time, cutting and flipping people off. Is that what it's supposed to mean?

Keeping your tires inflated properly is pretty easy.

I check my tired before every ride had 2 pairs of 23s and both of them after about a month would get a pinch tear, where it stayed inflated but I could see the mesh under the rubber

dislplin01, you have been here 5 months and started 6 threads, 2 of which are about State bikes.

Are you shilling for state bikes?

I ride some pretty crappy streets in L.A. I have the 28s on one bike and 23 on my road bike. I've yet to get a flat on either bike and I ride every day since I commute on my bike and I alternate bikes so they both get regular riding. The 28s give a little bit more of a comfortable ride in my opinion but I don't really believe in the tire width/flat correlation. And I do inflate my tires every day that I ride them

Shilling???? Isn't that a English currency ??? Anyways I assume you mean that I'm trying to promote them???? No I own a state bike so naturally the few threads I have started they have been part of them , I come here to get honest none troll opinions on bikes and parts . Plus if Iwas trying to promote state bikes iI wouldn't do it this way, I know every time I post about State some bike snobs will talk about how they are horrible bikes, even tho they have never owened one and they have a championship team that rides there bikes . So if I was trying to "shill" them ?? I wouldn't do it this way....

I understand you have been here a long time and know much more about bikes and fixed gear in general than me and others. But I feel like this is a place for people to come together and share our love for bikes and help to build each other up not , put people down and to make them look dumb because they don't know as much as you or just simply dont agree . Iv seen it alot from other peoplw too its actually why im not active on this forum.

all joking aside, the ludicrous questions that are imposed upon people, especially the more knowledgeable ones (ala Scrod) gets old and we turn to more fun things like ridicule and public shunning. Most of the time simple searches or common sense will solve the most minor of questions/issues. I am guilty of this sometimes but it is far too prevalent.

Everyone gets made fun of here by everyone. It's only a matter of time. Some people can handle it and stick around and others get their feelings hurt and run away. I've been made fun plenty of times , mostly for good reason asking stupid questions etc. At the end of the day I have learned a lot here and usually get my questions answered...at least the important ones. For how snarky Scrod is, he actually helps a lot of people every day and probably half those people think they know better then him because he tells people the truth, not just what they want to hear. And if I was trying to be helpful to a bunch of strangers and half of them did that I would become even snarkier then he is. And there are lots of other veterans that are in the same position.

p.s. the other sub forums aren't like this so if you want everyone to be nice you can go hang out in commuting forum

If you want me to take the time to actually read long-winded posts like this, you'll need to first learn how to construct legitimate sentences using proper grammar and punctuation. My time is valuable and I refuse to be dumb myself down trying to wrap my head around this run-on bull****.

LOL ouch dude , why exactly is it a BS question??? I thought it was pretty strait forward, of these three bikes what would you choose and why? That's it, pretty simple, no need for for confusion .

OP:
rather confusion than simplicity unless you define those words differently, i am afraid.
you asked ppl's advise among 3 totally different bikes from different price-point.
you stated your plan as getting involved w racing while you weren't sure what kind of race you were getting into.
ppl still tried to help you giving some good options.
then you moved your focus to whether that track-suited bike would be ok on the street.
about the time most of us realized that you were like all over the place,
now you are talking about tire size and daily pressure check.
...

Well those three bikes are around the same price the first two are almost exactly the same price and the other is the same price but doesn't come with wheels (and other parts). As far as the rest I was just responding to what people where talking about and questions people were asking me. Again man I'm a mellow dude I'm not trying to start a useless internet fight , I honestly just want some opinions on those bikes , I like them all three of them and more than likely be getting one of them next year that's it man .
