Frame suggestions.
I am starting my search for an aluminum track frame. I am not looking for the lightest frame or a name brand. Just a frame that fits me that i can build up and enjoy.
my budget is $200 but will probably go up to $300 if need be. I understand thats not much but this is for frame only.
I am almost 6'3" with long legs and weigh 200lbs. So i need a larger frame that can take a pounding.
I'd like to hear some suggestions and experiences with various frames/brands.

You can probably find a Pake French 75 on Ebay for that price, but not in a brick and mortar store.
Leader 721 will run you under 300 for the frame, but the fork will break the budget.

You don't have many options, and cheaper aluminum frames aren't really that light. You should save a little but more, but i'm sure people will give you a short list of what you can get. Most people will probably recommend a Leader, Unknown or Dolan.

Your cog is slipping.
The largest size Leader 721 (58cm) will be too small for you.
As much as I hate to say it, Unknown makes several 62cm frames.

It actually felt weird to mention them in my short list. A lot of kids like them though so I felt like I had to, even though I would never want one. Must feel a lot worse for you being a shop owner and all haha.

i've got a couple of these beauties. not really a track geometry, but has got fork ends and 120mm spacing. double butted aluminum. seatstay brace drilled for brake. no headset or fork. headtube built for traditional threadless headset.
the aluminum welds are as nice as you'll find anywhere.
i don't know how they can even BEGIN to sell it at $89.99.

well i have a carbon fork, headset, bb and crankset, wheels, stem, bars, and a 27.2 seat post. so i can use most of it or may have to get a headset and seatpost.
i am a college student. I dont really have means of income during the school year, i just have decent success of flipping and stripping things i find on CL.
ive looked over leader, unknown, aventon, 17th tooth and dolan. But dolan seems hard to come by in the states or at least is not widely available online like the others i mentioned.

I don't hate them or anything, I just don't like recommending things that I wouldn't ride myself. There's a ton of companies popping up and cashing in on the aluminium aero frame market now. I just feel like other companies offer more quality products. But I only ride steel bikes, so what do I know.
