Noob question [Mercier Killo TT and valve stem length of tubes]

I bought some sunlite thorn resistant tubes 32mm (these) and now after trying to patch my tube which somehow got 5 holes in it at once I decided to switch it out for this one.

The valve stem is not long enough to inflate once mounted, my question is
1. Is a 32mm valve too short for a mercier kilo TT (stock rims)?
2. Am I installing it wrong?

thanks

Let me mull over the evidence and get back to you.

Cute sarcasm. I know its the obvious answer unless, as I asked, I'm installing it wrong. Which seems hard enough to **** up, nevertheless, it's a possibility.

Nah, your gut was right. The stock rims are 30mm (IIRC), so you'll need at least 48mm valves.

Oh, and those thorn res tubes are really heavy, I'd invest in better tires or liners before I went with those.

why not just compare the 32mm valve to the one that came stock, problem solved. Go on Nashbar and buy some tubes.

The stock rims on a Kilo TT Pro are 30mm deep. The rims on the standard Kilo TT are about 22mm.

Without knowing which version he has, this thread is dumb.

Even with 22mm deep rims, 32mm valve stems barely stick out enough to attach a pump head to inflate them. I only use them on traditional box section rims.
