wow the demographic here is alot more christian than i expected

Only 4 out of 24 responses indicate any real observance of Easter and none of those mention actually attending religious services. To a heretic such as myself, that does not seem to be a very Christian demographic...

Easter was always my least favorite holiday - don't like the candy, the colors, the uncomfortable clothes, the food, the little old ladies, church, egg hunts, plastic grass... none of it.

Wife seems to think we need to do gift exchanges though so I got her and DiabloDaughter some goodies to put in a basket.

Agreed!

As an atheist, I'm very upset that my company hasn't even hinted at letting us out early for this christian holiday.

I have to work this weekend but I don't celebrate so I don't care.

Not doing any sort prescribed program in the gym, and not at all knowledgeable of the programs you listed. I just like to find a weight that I can do ~10reps or so of. Also, you should know that (as of two months ago), I started lifting again for the first time regularly since college.

The gym for me is about general health and strength, and is really secondary to my training for bike racing, which primarily takes place on the bike, of course. I lift twice a week, once upper, once lower, with ab work both days.

Having said that, I will look into the two programs above that you mentioned. I love training and working out, which is most of the reason why I ride in the first place.

If you are a newb to strength training you will probably double your squats in a month or two running Starting Strength. Doing reps of 10 and trying to add 10 lbs every month is not the right way to go about things. Do starting strength and follow it religiously and you'll make big gains fast and then if you get more serious move to 531 when you max out your noob gains

I'll check it out.

What I did last night was add 10lbs, then drop # reps, and it was surprisingly doable. Prob. due to ultrafast gains from being a newb, I realize.
