Easter

Spent last night making fancy chocolates ... and making myself sick by eating too many.

Easter Friday - family lunch. We've been threatened with pancakes and bacon and eggs Trouble is, I'll have to listen to my brother in law. More chocolate.

Saturday, out on the Hillbrick test riding a 20 km run to include in my commute. Need to top up with chocolate.

Sunday, bush wander and bird watching with my daughter. Sustained by chocolate.

Monday, another run on the Hillbrick, maybe a long one this time. Never wanting to see another piece of chocolate.

Wot's yours?

Friday: revel in the knowledge that I do not have to wake up early to go to work. Sleep in late only interrupted by cats who require feeding
Saturday: mostly normal Sat
Sunday: Distinct lack of stores and services open to the public. Realize that I should have stocked up on more beer/groceries on Saturday. End up ordering pizza
Monday: back at work, office is secular and only recognizes the Friday as a statutory holiday.

Friday...hope to get out of work early, drink alcohol.
Saturday...Record Store Day, time to buy limited edition vinyl
Sunday...4/20, celebrate the best holiday ever by smoking herb all day and listening to vinyl.
Monday...wait, what? Oh, work, thats right.

Oh, and some bike riding in there as well.

Friday: Work because I live in the U.S. and my job don't care about religion
Sat: Sit at home while my wife works
Sun: Do whatever I want because every business in Los Angeles will be open as usual because again business don't care about religion or holidays.

I remember a day when everything was closed on Christmas and these days I can at least go to Walmart on Christmas day and most places are open by the afternoon on Christmas.

Bikes: road, track, mtb

Tonite: After work (almost done) gonna hit up the gym and do legs, then groceries after. I'm gonna step up my squatting weight 10lbs tonight and drop #reps to 5 or 6 (from 10). From there I will slowly increase reps until im back at 10 in a few weeks, then step up weight 1 more time. I'm 20lbs shy of my goal weight for 10rep sets.

Friday: Dinner Date w gf, prob a fair bit of drinking. Also mtb ride at lunch

Sat: Whatever, prob hanging w gf. I'd like to meet up w friends and/or do something recreational outside that doesn't involve training (rest week on the bike - just means easier+less than a normal week)

Sun: 2hr ride up to my friends house w loaded bag for a couple hrs body surfing at the beach, another 1hr ride after to my parents house for easter celebration. My friends and I will be playing music, and there will be lots of great food, drink, and for some of us, smoke! However, as per usual at family events, we will have to be hush-hush about smoking weed because not everyone there will be comfortable with it.

What program are you running for your squats? If you are trying to make fast gains I recommend Starting Strength. Ultimately I was a bigger fan of Wendler's 531 program but I ****ed up my back from lifting so I am just doing prison yard body weight work outs now...and riding

Not doing any sort prescribed program in the gym, and not at all knowledgeable of the programs you listed. I just like to find a weight that I can do ~10reps or so of. Also, you should know that (as of two months ago), I started lifting again for the first time regularly since college.

The gym for me is about general health and strength, and is really secondary to my training for bike racing, which primarily takes place on the bike, of course. I lift twice a week, once upper, once lower, with ab work both days.

Having said that, I will look into the two programs above that you mentioned. I love training and working out, which is most of the reason why I ride in the first place.

Insomniac!

Also nice. You've been riding pretty big for a while now. I've noticed the frequency of posts like this or epic mtb rides go up in the paths 6-12 months or so.

Bikes: En plus one

Friday: brunch with my wife and my son. Then we have to run some errands. Hopefully get in a bike ride.

Saturday: Pho day, I will have my weekly Lad Na for sure, My son will get his usual toxic yellow curry with enough chilies to tarnish the silverware. Then pack and last minute errands.

Sunday: get up too early and spend all day on various airplanes. Thus starts another two week trip for work.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

My daughter came home from Waco (Baylor) for her last weekend home before marriage in 1 month. Easter means a lot to us.

Friday night is a service to recognize Jesus's crucifixion - it's somber and meant for personal reflection.

Saturday will be daughter's wedding shower (men disinvited), so a buddy and I will do a ~60 mile ride or so, depending on time available. Evening with the family, ejoying one another.

Easter Sunday is a celebration. The single most defining moment in recorded human history. The empty tomb... is death defeated? is the debt of the world paid? Anyhow...

Sunday dinner together, then we take the daughter back to the airport to say goodbye. Tears, I expect.

Happy Easter, all.

After 40 days of Lent, I sure am ready to celebrate the resurrection.
I hope your daughter has a long and happy marriage, congratulations to all.

Agreed!

As an atheist, I'm very upset that my company hasn't even hinted at letting us out early for this christian holiday.
