Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yay or nay?

Reynolds 531 Raleigh super Course fixie | road | Kitchener / Waterloo | Kijiji

Not very often that a fixed gear build pops up in my towns kijiji listing, but was wondering if I could get some opinions on this one? Considering it is brakeless with no foot retention, I wonder if this fella knows much about fixed gear....

It's too bad that there isn't either a thread for craiglist type finds or a "Should I ..." thread for answering questions like these. Or maybe even a whole forum for valuing bikes. The last is probably your best bet, but I'd like that bike a lot better if it hadn't been converted into a fixed gear bike with no foot retention.

Way over-priced.
Foot retention and brakes can be added for little cost, it's not a deal breaker if it has none.
Does it fit you?

I really need to step up for forum game. Thanks for the advice prooftheory.

And yes, it does fit me, gonna take it for a rip soon. The price did seem steep...
