CC Tour of N. Ga

Hey guys,

Thanksgiving is getting closer and I dont seem to have anything to do as of today. There is no planned route but I would like to do something along the lines of a 200 +/- mile N.Ga tour in 3 days. And example of the route could be:

Day 1 (Friday) - Dahlonega - Helen GA = 54 "very hilly". Reverse Union Gap, Reverse Wolf Pen Gap, Jacks Gap and Unicoi Gap (6-7k ft. climb)
Day 2 (saturday) - Helen - Blue Ridge GA = 64 miles "very hilly" Hogpen Gap, Wolfpen Gap
Day 3 (sunday) - Blue Ridge - Dahlonega GA = 66 miles Rolling Terrain - Reverse Neels Gap

Total = 184 miles and I believe around 15k-20k ft of climb!!!

Helen GA

Blue Ridge GA

Dahlonega GA

DeSoto falls in Blood mountain

It's not a race but it isnt exactly touring. More like a really informal staged event. It is plenty challenging but I believe it will be worth it with the fall folliage and beautifull sceneries. Tons of good beer and maybe some moonshine?

I know this is a long shot but if people are interested it would be really cool

lol I agree it's not for the faint of heart but that is why I kept the mileage low. At first I was thinking of doing 250+ mile (80-100 mile day) but then I figured that 50 miles there count as 100 miles anywhere else!

That being said, the good thing is that even though it is tough there is no pressure to finish the ride on a hurry. We can start riding at 8 or 9 am and finish the ride at 5 or 6. That is fairly ok for 60+/- mile routes.

I rode my motorcycle up there on sunday and the scenery is just breathtaking! A little too much traffic though with the leaf watchers and all. Beautiful nonetheless.

I went up on Sunday as well. Did pretty much the route you outlined, starting at 19/60, up to Suches and across the 180 loop. It was awesome even though the leaves were a touch past the prime. I saw quite a few bikes as I was scooting through in the orange Camaro.
