San Diego Bike Commuter Discount Program

The local bike shop owner who started the sdbikecommuter.com forum has also started a bike commuter discount program with local businesses. It's kind of an interesting new way to promote bicycling.

Forum thread explaining the program:

List of participating businesses:

The guy that started it is also the guy that started that thread explaining it. You can probably contact him through the forum. He might have some good advice and I'm pretty sure that he would like to see this idea copied in other cities. That's part of why I posted about it here.

Some may notice that the businesses are all small local businesses. Part of the rationale there is to try to promote small local businesses as well as neighborhood bicycling.

We have a very tight community here of small businesses who are into bikes. I will definitely be pursuing this. Thanks for the heads up!
