Seal Beach blvd and 405 fwy
I was planning on riding North on Seal Beach over the 405 tomorrow afternoon. With all the construction in the area, is there still a bike lane over the freeway?

I think the path is blocked on the east side with a barrier at on off ramp south of the 405. I did not notice if the west side was blocked. This was for pedestrians. If the cars can get through, so can you. Good Luck.

The northbound side is segregated by plastic delineators. It actually seems safer until you reach the onramp for N405. The former bike lane has now been cut to about a third. Also, make sure you're seen when popping out of the delineated lane to bypass the onramp. As far as the southbound side is concerned, the bike lane is narrowed down considerably south from Lampson and over the freeway. I used to consider this the safer side. The THREE (previously two) lanes dedicated for southbound traffic squeeze you to the gutter. As you may know, Seal Beach Blvd. (from Lampson to St. Cloud) does not allow space for bicyclists either southbound or northbound. This route, as well as the nerve wrecking Katella westbound are my only means to easily access Long Beach. This area doesn't seem to give bicyclists a fare shake. Time to take over the sidewalks, I guess! Be safe.
