Gear display for DI2
I may be the only one but occasionally I get a bit confused on what gear I am in especially in rollers with a strong pace line group and concentrating on the draft etc. It is hard to look down and don't always want to ask. Shimano has a transmitter for Ant+ to talk to a Garmin 1000 to show a gear display but there is another nice option available for use. The new DI2 XTR SC-9050 display works fine with Dura Ace and Ultegra road groups. It replaces the junction A and has three ports so you would have to do a bit of workaround if you need five ports. It has a charging port and shows the battery level as well. Because the road groups are only doubles it appropriately only shows the large and small chainrings and then the 11 options on the cassette. I don' know if it works on 10 speed. You have to have the very latest software updates for it to work. You can change the length of time it displays the info and it turns on automatically when you hit a shift button. It was a cheaper option then replacing my Garmin 800 and getting the Ant + sending unit and buying a 1000.

I've been using this display on my single road bike for the past couple of months. It works really nice, but I had to modify the mount to allow me to position it just in front of my stem and between my aerobars. In the normal position, the elbow pads would totally cover the display.

Anybody tried with Ultegra 10sp yet? Must I be the guinea pig? Web search came up with nothing.

According to this chart (PDF from shimano), you should be able to use it. The mountain bike display is SC-9050, the ultegra 10spd derailleurs are the FD-6770 and RD-6770 and they all appear in the Road tree. You will have to remove the current junction box, and the geometry of the entry ports is a bit different, so the shift wires may need to moved around a bit.

Also you have to have the very latest firmware updates on your system. I thought at first I had a dead unit as when I plugged it in nothing even thought I did a software update prior. It turns out Shimano has eliminated the Etube software auto update and you have to delete the version you have and download the latest E tube software and it will then give even newer firmware. Once done it worked perfect. I had to lengthen the left shifter wire as the ports are now to the right of the stem. It is a nice display and you can program how long it stays on etc.
