Novara brake cables

I was at an REI store today and saw that their Slick Stainless Brake cables are 275cm in length and are only $4.00. The shift cables were 230cm so they should work for FDs but you still have to shell out for a RD cable.

These lengths are only for the Slick Stainless cables, the regular Stainless cables were the regular 1700 and 2000 mm lengths. (And yes, the slick cables are labeled in cm while the regulars are in mm.)

And they're double ended. So you can use the opposite end with cable disconnects if you use those.
Campy end fits better in the DaVincis.

It's kinda weird. Jagwire cables are now single ended but these are made by Jagwire and are still double ended. If you cut carefully, 2 cables can be used for a road and mountain bike. I don't get the same use out of shifter cables because I have no Campy equipped bikes.

On the flip side the Novara shift cable kits I bought had plastic ferrules while the Jagwire kits had aluminum ferrules.

I was able to get tandem-length cables by Bontrager for $5 from the local Trek dealer.
