Disc wheels
Seeking direction or experiences with 145mm spaced disc wheel. Found one wheel builder who said "maybe" with certain hub/rim combinations. Also thoughts on an aero front wheel.

No experience with disc wheels but if it has a 10x1x141 axle you can replace it with a 10x1x158 axle. It would require spacers on both sides and have the chainline of an 130mm OLD wheel.
A deep section rim is more rigid than a shallow rim but most aero rims are using much thinner walls.

What will you use the disc for? Daily riding, time trialing, track riding? Just be aware that tandems have a big wind profile. Disc additions in cross winds could be very dangerous. A deep section rim might be the better option. Just a thought

Somebody on here, I think DubT adapted a 130mm spaced disc wheel to 145 by fashioning a piece of aluminum to the drop out to effectively change the width of the dropout.
I've looked into modifying HED disc for 145mm spacing. I decided that the aerodynamic advantage on the back of a tandem of a disc versus a Deep sectioned spoked wheel, like a Zipp 808 wasn't worth the bother.

What is this tandem being used for?
Why do you want disc brakes?
Is having individual power meters important?
Team weight and are you fast?
How low does the gearing need to go for your riding?
How much have you got to spend?
All these things will effect the answers to your plethora of questions.

Don't want to be Schlecked off the road by a good side wind...TTs in the right conditions and some track practice when a group of us can get on with our multi-gear having, brake-equipped, crank arm too long having rides. Running the disc on the road would just make me look ghetto-fabulous.

We ran a disc on a tandem that we owned back in the early 90's. We had absolutely "0" problems with winds.
we are currently running HED 3's front and rear. I ordered a set of titanium rear drops from Calfee and used them as spacers to reduce the rear drop spacing from 145 to 130. Works great.

Tandem/team mass in forward momentum tends to negate most increased side push.
To the OP, give Wheelbuilder.com a phone call and ask about their "Aero Jacket" disc shroud. It may be a cheap $100 option (was on sale for $60 for a long time) for the look you want. You may be able to make it work for your wheels... depends. They say it is not for tandem wheels, but that depends on many factors.

Yeah, they were the "wheel builder" I mentioned... It was a "maybe, depends on rim/hub..." combination.
I have experienced much greater sidewind problems using a set of light weight Rolf Sestriere wheels on my single than anything on our tandem.
