How's everyone holding up through this absurdity?

The backyard almost flooded into the living room because the 2 french drains couldn't keep up with the volume of the rain.
Our new roof is still leaking in the same spots.
The power was out last night for about 2 hours.

This is the MUP that runs along the Bayou, when I bike to work I ride under this bridge every day. This is about 15-20ft or more above normal

Here's another one of the bayou by the park on the other side of my neighborhood - that light under the bridge is actually a light for a walkway underneath like the above pic. This is also probably about 20ft above normal

Wow, thanks for the pics Sci Guy. I'm in Bear Creek Village north of Clay. Not too much happening here. Hwy 6 from the reservoir up to FM-529 was clear all day and stores were open. I'm sure Bear Creek Park is completely underwater, so I'm going to have to find somewhere else to ride for a couple of weeks. But I'm sure THP & GBP are also going to be underwater for awhile. I'm going to have to seek out some other options.

I live in Kingwood. One of the main streets out of Kingwood to US59 has been closed for several hours. My weather station shows 7.75" of rain. My newly installed mulch is washed down the street and the bags of tree trimmings were scattered around my yard. From the debris in my yard the street was full and into my yard by about 8 to 10 feet. Will be interesting to see how long this takes to drain from all of the bayous.

The water came within 6-8 inches (vertical) from our front door! In the afternoon I rode my hybrid out to Brays Bayou and took some photos.

Yes! Especially if you know what's like under normal conditions!

A friend of a family member saw that guy at a Starbucks a few minutes before he drove into the water. She said he was acting really funny as if he was drunk and/or on something. She said he almost plowed into a bunch of cars as he was pulling out of the parking lot. She saw this video after it went viral and realized it was the same guy.

I was fine in Oakhurst on the wrong side of the tracks in Kingwood. Some of the streets I take on my rides near Auburn Trails and 1314/Valley Forge were under water. We live right next to the big drainage ditch/bayou and it was as high as I have ever seen it, including after Ike. It still had a good ten additional feet to rise before it threatened our street. I'm hoping to see things drain by the weekend so I can get some miles in.

The gate where you get into the park/path that goes south through the reservoir is about 150 yards ahead, under about 1.5ft of water. Everyone wanted a picture. Down at the bridge about a mile down where the bayou flows through, it's about 15-20 feet deep most likely.

Here's one from the top of the levee. Usually you don't see any water at all. It's standing now roughly between 80-90 ft. Insane.

Coming down the other side of the levee this pavement ends about 200 ft ahead, and turns into some trails you can take through the park. There's also a lake to the left. All gone.

This is how high the water was and where it left debris. The water level you see is actually about 10 feet higher than normal.

how is THP? Rideable?

Yeah I rode to work on Friday and the entire park was rideable. There was a lot of mud over the path in a bunch of places but the water was within the banks.
It was rising from the outflow yesterday though so not sure about status today.

You may have been one of the last riders through Sci Guy. Since they started releasing flood water, the Hwy 6 crossing has gone under. Found this on another site this afternoon. Hope it's ok that I posted it.

My ride to work this morning was an adventure. THP path was OK from Memorial Mews until Dairy Ashford (except under Memorial). Once you got to Dairy Ashford, all the low spots where completely swamped. I was able to ride along the high gravel/dirt path that parallels the paved path from DA all the way to Wilcrest - with one area having to hop back over to the path to use a bridge, then go back up to the gravel.

Since the gravel path doesn't go all the way to the BWY8 lot, and I knew most of the pavement between Wilcrest and there would be underwater, I rode down the sidewalk on Wilcrest, and popped into the neighborhoods around Walnut Bend to get to work.

I wonder how long the water will be just a tad too high.

Here's a few from my ride home yesterday. Had to take the same route back - along the gravel path, crossing the center to hit that bridge, then back over to the gravel all the way to Dairy Ashford where you have to cross the street which sucks lol.
Lots of people out enjoying it though. Some idiot kids trying to ride through the deep water - not smart.

Holy crap. Looking south from the dead end of Barker Clodine Road 04/26. I have never seen water come out beyond the gate before. The deep part is a mile down the trail. Memorial day floods closed this section for nearly a month. This looks way worse.

Me either. I posted pics from this past saturday - the first 2 in post #15 above. It's crazy.
Did you telephoto that? Because I assume its either as far up still as my pics, if not further since more water has been flowing into the res.

Sci Guy, someone else took that photo yesterday. It's either telephoto or he boated up to the gate! It looks much worse than your Saturday photo. That section may be out of use for a couple of months.
