bike tour from Austin
I am wondering if there are any Austinites or people around Austin interested in getting together in doing a week long trip together. I would say leave from Austin, do a loop preferably and end in Austin. Times, Dates, Cities, and routes are TBD still. If anyone is interested in doing it, please let me know.

I'm from CO, but originally from the Austin area and would be interested in joining for such a tour. If I could work it into my schedule, I'd go.

I would like more information. How many miles daily and total? Are you staying in motels or carrying tents? Would you be mostly cooking on the road or planning you trip around restaurants and small towns?
I have not toured before and don’t have the equipment for a non supported tour however if you would be doing a credit card tour I may be interested. I ride a recumbent and am in very good shape so am not afraid of the miles.
Thanks

I am planning on doing this tour self supported, cooking on the road, with some meals in restaurants. I am still researching the destination cities for the tour, but I will try to stay in smaller towns. I am looking to do around 250-300 miles during that week on the tour.

Man, that sounds awesome! I recently rode a day trip around Austin with some friends, around 50-60 miles total. I've always wanted to take a longer trip. I just moved to Austin recently and got a job yesterday, so it may be difficult to take that amount of time off any time soon.

@ austincyclone12: I am glad to hear that you are interested in doing such a trip. I have an open invitation on CGOAB till the end of February, so until then All the routes, dates, mileages, etc... will not be set in stone. If you or your friends are going to join up on the trip, and would like to visit a certain town, historic site, river, or whatever, let me know.

I'll keep my eye on this thread for details as I've always wanted to do a little self-supported bike touring. I don't need to be a deciding factor on any of the specifics though because who knows if I can actually do it or not considering other obligations, family, work, etc. Once you get the dates, I'll let you know if I can or can't join you.

The ACA is hosting the Easter Hill Country Tour this year... May be something to consider. https://www.ehct.com/

I am still trying to work out some minor funding issues right now on the trip. I am having to use every thing I can to purchase a new vehicle, transmission went out in my truck last week. I am tenitivelly planning on doing the trip in early May as of right now.
