Rack with Carbon Cyclocross Frame

Does anyone see any issues with using this rack Streamliner Road DLX - Streamliner Racks - Racks - Products - Axiom Performance Gear with this frame AC059 Carbon cyclocross frame disc brake - Shenzhen ICAN Sports Equipment Co., Ltd. I would be mounting the rack on the QR skewers, and to the fender mount at the top

At the very most I would expect to carry 8kg (18lbs) max

I mean yeah, sure you can get that to work, the quick release thing is actually very functional (had that with my tubus rack when I did my first real tour)
But I would be uncomfortable with the upper attachment. It's kinda in line with the stresses a brake bridge needs to deal with anyways, buuuut... With carbon I would not feel comfortable with it. Depends how the bolt clamping works. I've understood that you can't torque a caliper brake too tight or it won't work (friction) so you would at best have a slightly loose attachment at the top.

Then again if you're not going to go around the world with that setup and you have a backup plan so you can get home even if the frame does break (unlikely really) then go ahead.

azza, I put this rack on my wifes alu road bike and it works fine. The brake caliper mount is pretty straightforward, and the skewer thing works ok, is a bit of a pain if you remove the rear wheel to fix a flat, but its not the end of the world and ultimately, this works well for bikes with rack screw on points.

the rack itself is rather sturdy, very robust and the way it angles in towards the top means it is more sturdy and also puts less force on the brake attachment point.

for me the main thing is not to overload it, and your stated amount seems very reasonable to me, given my experience with it on my wifes bike.

you can get them here in Montreal for about $40 or so, so the price is great too.
