Build your bike how you want it. People think its overkill to pull a BOB for heavy commuting. My BOB even has its own *custom* rear flasher installed since 50% of my commuting is in the dark. Its your ride. Do what you want.

Thanks,
Actually I have a Bob that goes behind my bike as well. I don't use it for my commute though. It takes too long to hookup and remove in the morning. I suppose I would get faster the more I did it but I already get up at 3:50 AM to commute into work and I just don't have it in me to get up another 20 minutes earlier.

Would love to hear more about your custom rear flasher. I'm always up to hearing about new ideas.

I should clarify, the mount is custom. I'll post a few pics once its painted to match the trailer. I'm weird about nighttime visibility... I'm in the process of adding a mount to the Tourist to support two rear flashers. And I am seriously considering a second headlamp set to strobe-mode. Too many close calls.

Nighttime visibility isn't weird it's self defense.
I'm pretty sure all you have to do to perfect stealth technology is make it look like a bicycle and it disappears.

That is actually another reason this project took root. I run both a rack mounted front light and also a helmet light as well.
The rack front light is and 18watt led light for cars and the helmet is a Gloworm XS.
In the rear I'm running a Garmin Varia Radar along with an led tail light. I just replace the 6 led car one with a set of Neopixels from Adafruit.

Here is a short clip of the turn signal programming that I've been working on. It also works as a flashing tail light but I didn't video that yet.
