My first day trip!
Hi all,
Took the new bike out for a day-trip on Saturday.
Packed my two rear-panniers with a camping stove in one, and a few other things in t'other, namely my cooking pot, a Mr. Noodles lunch, and some extra clothes.
It was an incredible day. I took this route:

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and a good test for the new bike. Everything worked well, however I quickly discovered that I need a new saddle - that's first on my Christmas list!
Otherwise, I had a great time and learned some tough lessons - such as, bring more food and/or money with you. Ran out of food and money for the last thirty kilometres home... It was rough!
Planning another trip going the other way this weekend, providing that the weather holds up.

always nice to hear of someone having a good experience.
Before replacing seat, were you wearing bike shorts, padded ones? Remember, no underwear under them.
Also, small adjustments to a seat can make all the difference for comfort.
Depending on how much you have ridden, it could be just normal initial stuff, but then all the other factors come into play as well. Take the time to figure the stuff I mentioned first before buying a new one.
Or not, impossible to know from here.
Good luck, you do want to be comfortable.

I have tried to adjust the seat, no joy. Still quite uncomfortable.

Congrats jhawk, you may be hooked on touring. Good luck with the saddle issue.
BTW, your link opens, but no map. Might need to make it 'public.'
