I'm hoping to ride my first short tour next week, weather permitting. Plan to ride from my home in Raleigh, NC, to the town of Oriental on the coast. It should take me 3 days. I was originally planning to camp but the locations of parks/campsites along the way are not good for my planned daily mileages, so I will probably stay in hotels. I am ready to go with gear ready and trip mapped out but waiting for the weather forecast to make a final decision. We have had unseasonably cold, wet weather all winter and spring so far and I have no interest in riding through cold rain for 3 days. Right now the forecast is looking good, however, so maybe I'll get lucky.

We're on holiday ... a hub and spoke sort of tour ... so today we cycled to a pair of tourist attractions and bought tickets to go to them at some point this weekend. Then we cycled northward to a beach, spent a little while sitting on the beach having lunch, and then we cycled back again.

It was a lovely day without much wind ... sunshine and 17C.

I camped April 5-6 in the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. Rode mountain bike trails both days. Definitely plan on going back to explore the rest of the place. Would like to try some primitive camping along the trails. Or, I could just stay in the campground at night and ride trails all day. Off-road riding is my favorite.

Last summer I did the Pacific Coast, San Francisco to Long Beach (home). This summer I am hopping to do either the Oregon Coast or the Northern CA part of the Pacific Coast route, Crescent City to San Francisco. I'll work in one of those, as well as a 50 mile hike in the Eastern Sierras this summer. Hopefully everything will fall into place in the next month or so. I'll also do a few over nighters to the local beaches.

The bike riding around Vicksburg and the Feliciana parishes is beautiful. There are not a lot of roads into New Orleans and most of those are not really bike-able. Do you have a route?

Basically followed the Mississippi River Trail. It is lightly marked. The last 25 or so miles can be ridden on the paved levee trail. Disappointingly, we had to exit the levee before getting to Audubon park due to construction. Journal here.

Since we (my wife & I) are new to touring and trying out our new added racks & panniers, we will take a one day ride out 15 miles @ stay in a hotel and then back the next day.
Then in mid June, we will do a 3 day, 2 night light Inn to Inn tour in Door County, WI
In August we plan to do a 5 day, 4 night Inn to Inn ride in Manitowoc County, WI
And then starting Labor Day we will do a 7 day 6 night Inn to Inn tour, again in Door County.
We have always loved biking and now that we are nearing retirement we look forward to slowing down and enjoying the biking life.

In March, a group of about 15 of us did three days around the Lake Eppalock region.

Day1: Castlemaine to Lake Eppalock via O'Keefe Rail Trail, camping at a massive bogan campground on the lake. Big culture shock with all the bogans there with their speedboats and four wheel drives. Had a great swim near Axedale, and the rail trail was great - it will be excellent when it gets all the way to Heathcote.
Day 2: To Colbinabbin via Tooleen - flat, a bit unremarkable.
Day 3: via Rushworth to Nagambie, Avenel then Seymour. We had a dramas - my derailleur exploded on a mountain bike path, so got a lift to Nagambie where I swapped bikes with partner who went home on the bus. The trains were replaced by buses, so we continued on to Avenel then a couple of us continued to Seymour for the hell of it.

All in all, a pretty cruisey little trip which attracted a lot of softcore people. It was more about relaxing and chatting rather than doing anything particularly epic.

So far I did the Swiss national route 5 over easter staying in youth hostels and a spoke and hub tour on road bikes based in Beliinzona. I have a overnight bikepacking tour planned for the end of June in preparation for a 3 day bikepacking tour at the end of July which will hopefully include my first time crossing the Alps. Hopefully I would like to squeeze in a least one overnight tour on my roadbike to see what that is like too.

I'm in ZRH 2-3 times a year for work and have been taking Brompton the past few times. I would love to do a 4-7 day credit card tour with it around the Italian part sometime. Need to look for some routes.

I have the good fortune to live in Oregon. I often ride sections of the Pacific Coast Bike Route. Oregon has many state parks along the way that have hiker/biker areas. I always ride N to S.

Finally able to settle on some plans for a summer tour. Will go over to India for work and while I am there take a bicycle vacation. Plan is to ride from Manali to Leh (Leh?Manali Highway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Distance is only 490km, but the average elevation is over 4000m (13,000ft) so need to make sure I acclimatize.

I had a great time camping this weekend. Left Friday morning and returned Sunday night. Went to Dawson Forest and Amicalola River. Beautiful ride and weather.

I live in the Atlanta area and commute daily from downtown to Decatur. I also spend quite a bit of time on the Silver Comet and look forward to a S24O soon in the Brushy Mountain area. Just got back from 4 days/3 nights riding the Bike 4 Trails system in Wisconsin. Great River Trail, La Crosse River Trail, Elroy-Sparta trail & The 400 State Trail. Besides the storms and downed trees, it was a great trip!

Just got back from a 7 day, 440 mile group cc tour in Montana. We all shared sag duties, so we only rode 375 of that. It was a fairly flat route, only 12,000' of climbing, so we did OK on our tandem. We took a lay day in Butte, which was very interesting. We visited the Berkeley Pit, one of the largest Superfund sites in the country, now a tourist attraction. We also visited the Big Hole Battlefield, where the flight of the non-treaty Nez Perce was ended by the US Army, also very much worth visiting.

Western Montana was beautiful with decent riding. Like most low population areas, only the main roads are paved, but traffic was light and the people were kind and friendly. Missoula-Hamilton-Wisdom-Butte-Drummond-Seeley Lake-Missoula.

We drove through that area in 2012 and thought it might make for some nice touring. There were, as I recall, sections of paved bicycle path along side the highway in places ... near Kalispell, Polson (a little further north than where you were), and Missoula.
