How do track athletes fuel up before and during an hour record attempt?

No fueling allowed during the attempt. Just rider and bike. As far as before the event and after, it will be individual for each athlete. Hour prep (that includes training) is going to be tailored for each rider. There is no manual for the Hour.

There are several books about the hour record; you could research them. Also find a coach with that knowledge.

Well, someone can hand you a bottle, but I found that impossible for me at those speeds, and I wasn't going to slow down.

Your body has enough fuel for an hour - just make sure you are warmed up and well hydrated.

I like a product called ucan - There is nothing like it for a constant flow of energy into your body without any peaks or valleys. It was created for medical purposes, but works amazing for athletes.
