Index & Middle Finger Numbness

After riding my mountain bike in Mexico throughout the winter, and occasionally having temporary numbness in the pinkie and ring finger, I just yesterday rode a century on my new (to me) road bike and experienced numbness in the index and middle fingers of my right hand (never the left).

This surprised me having never had numbness in those fingers of either hand. Due to the cool weather I was wearing full-fingered gloves with a little less padding in the ulnar nerve area, so I'm wondering (and hoping) if perhaps half-fingered gloves with more padding in the nerve areas might eliminate or reduce the problem.

Anybody else experience numbness in those fingers, and/or only on one hand? Suggestions?

Index and middle finger numbness would indicate carpel tunnel.

Pinky and ring finger numbness would be ulnar.

I experience ulnar nerve issues because I put a lot of weight on the heels of my hands. Perhaps you need to experiment with a different grip.

Thanks. Maybe I need to have my right hand observe what the left is doing!
