Triathlon Suit
As my first Tri nears i am debating on wether or not to go with a tri suit one piece.
What are the major benefits for one. I own a pair of tri shorts which i am extremely happy with, and i understand that jumping into a top during my transition is time consuming.
Is it really worth it to jump out of the water (this is a pool swim) onto the bike and finish it with a run all on the same piece, or does it really make no difference at all.
They get pretty pricey, and im not too convinced on making that jump.

Having never done a tri I can tell you what I have observed. A one piece seems to just facilitate a faster transition from wetsuit to bike. Probably helps keep you warm and streamlined much the same as bib tights.
Having never worn them this is all just observation. I'd say that if this is your first tri, just relax and go with what you have. Put that money into your bike or shoes or aerobars. A few seconds in the transition can be made up if you train for it.

A trisuit does not allow for easy toilet access. Go with a two piece.

+1 You can P/U a tri singlet for pretty cheap on ebay, especially if you have a pair of shorts you like. Singlets fit tight, so can be worn in the swim so there is no changing, other than putting on bike shoes, in T1.

I wouldn't worry about a wetsuit - you said the swim was in a pool - so it's about slippery in water and not changing in transition. If it is a sprint don't worry about it but if it is a long swim the slipperier the better - so I would go with the 1 piece as it will cut down on friction in the water and no changing in transition.

Just pick up a tri top. Wetsuit is unnecessary in a pool plus the chlorine will destroy your suit. Not in one swim but not advisable to bring it into the pool anyway. Plus this sounds like a sprint (what is the distance?)...the friction argument is not an issue...tri outfits (top/bottom) are supposed to be tight so there is no advantage in that regard of whether you use a 1 peice or 2.....most people use the singlet suit/one peice because many find it more comfortable because their is no waistband etc pressing into you, and why worry about the bathroom? this is a sprint, so no time to do that.
What I would do based on what I think the race is setup for, is to just buy a tri top to go with your tri shorts , swim in them like many triathletes do in 78 degree+ water temps, get out of the pool have your helmet etc set up, step on a towel put on your socks and shoes and go!!! (you can forgo the socks if you have practiced that way) Good Luck

It's much a matter of personal preference. I've used shorts/singlet combo and a tri suit.
My shorts/singlet combo worked fine. As someone pointed out, it makes going to the bathroom easier.
I prefer the tri suit. Just more comfortable for me. It feels faster in the water. Terrible to try and pee in though.

have you had the need to pee while in a triathlon, i would assume that you are sweating it out so much, there would be no need, as with other sports i've played, i dont recall ever needing to pee.

I have both and prefer a top and shorts as opposed to a suit. However, it's all personal preference. If the tri allows you to not wear a top on the swim part, you can just get a pair of tri shorts and then put on a bike jersey for the other two legs of the race. That might help save you some money. Have fun!
