cycling from Manchester to Leeds, tips please!
hello! Im planning on cycling from Manchester to Leeds tmrw, i have never done this before and was looking for some tips, good routes ect. I have found the route 66 which seems like the best option and the weather looks moderate to o.k so that should be fine! Any tips or anyone who'd like to ride with me?
cheers

Why not use the Leeds-Liverpool Canal towpath? It's great and avoids traffic! There are plenty of places to stop and eat/stay etc close by and you meet some great people.

done it im afraid matt, but would be up for doing it again if you fancy it. I started in Withington near the christies hospital went into town to piccadilly station then down the Rochdale? canal to Oldham, from there i just got on the a62 and powered through. There is some nice scenery on the way and luckily it was a beautiful day when i rode. Would be truely awful if the weather was bad up on the moor is very exposed. Also i dont think i took the best route, lots of the a62 didnt have cycle lanes and turned into 4 laners a few times which was a bit scary. There is a an alternative route with the national cycle ways but im not sure there much better really. When would you be thinking of going?

National cycle routes are fine if you have some time but most do not link one into another. A good map and planning would be required for the spaces inbetween.
