I re-read my original post and it 'seemed' to be worded OK, to me at least.
Why I want to do this?
To make the cables more flexible and get my handlebar bag comfortably placed.
Get some V-brake noodles and use them between your shifters and the adjusters, that will get the cables out of the way.
