I love this thread, lots of fun. I got about halfway through before I went to google and typed:

"squirrel snare" which lead me to this. A lot more convenient than a shotgun. If I did that, though, I would definitely carry a Plan B dinner of some sort.

I guess the thing to do would be to set up a few snares as soon as you arrive at your campsite, then go about your business. If you catch something before dinner time, eat it. If not, well, there's always Plan B.
