A 1964 Schwinn paramount was handed down to me and I was just wondering if anyone knew how much these go for...
Everything is original except for the rear cassette, tires, and brake pads. It has a few scratches, but it is in more than good shape. Has had only one owner... All Campy brakes and derailleurs. Phil Wood sealed hubs. I have a couple of the orginal tools that it came with, and I might be able to find the rest.
Serial number is T46.
thanks! Any feedback would be great!
Obviously we do not know the condition or if 64 is necessarily the year. But I'm curious about what you guys think. Here's the email I sent him, I hope he writes me back.
Greetings!
Out of curiosity, how many hilarious emails have you received like "it is worth nothing - please deliver it to 892 SW Salmon here in PDX to dispose of"?.
Anyways that bike should command a pretty penny here in Portland, or eBay, if you went that route. Personally, I'd price it at $600 and expect it to be gone by the weekend. If you want to wait until spring, you could get more out of it then.
eBay's a crapshoot.
If you want to sell the bike to someone who is obsessed with the Schwinn history and who is currently writing about the company, I'd be willing to take it off your hands for something other than lots of money.
Good luck. I hope it fits you, you decide against selling it, and ride it like you stole it!
Cheers,
Mike

ALSO: if you want me to, you could take some pictures and I could post it on that sites valuation forum. They'd give you the best idea of what the bike's "worth". Again, remember Portland is a different world when it comes to bicycles.
