Up for sale is a 1986 Torpado Superlight racing cycle. The frame is full Columbus SLX tubing with a Cinelli bottom bracket shell and Campagnolo dropouts. Seat tube measures 59cm (c-to-c) and the top tube measures 58cm (c-to-c). This is a phenomenal handling bike that lays power to the ground so smoothly and deliberately it is shocking. Cosmetically it could use some touching up and there is a small ding in the seatstay above the brake bridge, but nothing serious. Chrome chainstay and forks are in good condition. There is internal cable routing for the rear brake and rear derailleur. Headset, bottom bracket and wheel bearings have all been recently serviced.
NOTE: Sale price does not include the Brooks Pro saddle in picture, though I do recommend them. I have a saddle that I can throw in if you need something to get you by.
If you would prefer the bike without the wheelset or cranks, for example, we can work out a lower price.
Components:
Bars/stem: 3TTT Grand Prix handlebars (40cm c-to-c), 3TTT pantographed record stem (90mm c-to-c)
Brake levers: Dia Compe Gran Compe Aero
Brake calipers: Modolo Flash
Seatpost: SR fluted
Seatpost binder bolt: Campagnolo
Headset: Ofmega
Crankset: Gipiemme Sprint with Campagnolo 47t ring and Ofmega 42t ring
Bottom bracket: Shimano
Front and rear derailleurs: Ofmega Premier
Shift levers: Suntour
Wheels: Wolber Super Champion Alpine clincher rims laced to Shimano 105 hubs
Tires: German made Continental 700x21
Pedals: SR SP II Eleven platforms with Christophe Special clips
The bike is truly a pleasure to ride, one of the finest frames I've ever owned, though a shade on the tall side for me. Also included are a set of brand new Columbus SLX decals for the seat tube and fork blades. The frame's got her share of scrapes and imperfections which is why I used this bike as a rider instead of a wall-hanger.
