Shops don't stock much in the way of brifters or such these days because everyone buys them from PBK or eBay, or whatever. Shimano shifters are an expensive paperweight to have in the shop.
We ain't talking shops here, we're talking ANYWHERE. Take at look at ebay and you might find one or two used 9 speed brifter sets...if that - and PBK is out just like everyone else.
