Bikes: too many now

well, it's going to get as many freebie parts as possible...and i am doing as much as i can as a way of getting back into learning bicycling mechanics...i mean, i already have a 2009 Giant Defy but it wasn't cheap. so the cheapie will be trashed lovingly whether riding singletrack or heading to the store. i also have several other bikes, but i simply like this bike. it's not like i plan to do freestyle, wheelies or mtb downhill on it...but pretty much everything else.

since it will not really be a performance bike, i'll just have fun with it. tires and tubes are already covered.

just want to make it lighter...ok, reword it: LESS HEAVY

ok! so it's going to be heavy...but will it disintegrate in mid-pedal one day? so, again, ANY (well-intentioned, NON-naysaying) suggestions since i will go against wisdom and make this lovely relic into the something else i want it to be?
