I have a Rans Stratus, Cannondale R500, Bike Friday and a Specialized Rockhopper. I switch around all the time the Rans is by far the most comfortable of the bunch and the view from it is terrific, not looking at the front wheel all the time. However I enjoy touring and transporting the recumbent is just to big a pain in the arse to deal with, hence the Bike Friday. Be advised that there is a learning curve on recumbents and they use a somewhat different set of muscles. Since you have something to lean against when pedaling you can put a lot of force on your knees, be very careful to spin up hills. If you do any rail trails they are the perfect bike for this.
