+1 on the Magicshine. I got one, and it rocks. The beam is about the perfect distribution for road riding.

On dark roads, I use it on the low setting, and it emits plenty of light. Other than fast downhills, I don't even consider using the "high" setting ... all it would do is screw up my night vision and blind oncoming traffic.

My only "doh!" is the fact that the little green light on the back of the light head remains lit, even when the light is turned off. It's minor nit, and curable by simply disconnecting the light from the battery pack.
