Yes, indeed, as an above post states, don't get me started on Ortlieb. My purpose was to test out waterproof bags in my world tour, despite every bit of logic convincing me that they could not POSSIBLY work. I guess the question a lot of folks have, is there an advantage to spending $100 more on a waterproof pannier, then a regular pannier with a $10 waterproof stuff sack or a 10¢ plastic garbage bag inside to keep stuff that needs to be kept dry, dry.
