Maybe masters tinselware wasn't a priority for riders this year. I know Rod targetted this year's events specifically, even bought a plastic bike with DA bits. I'm pretty sure he sleeps with it.
His young daughter is turning out to be a pretty handy rider too. You might see her name up in lights in 3 or 4 years time if she continues to enjoy the sport.
It was plenty too early for me to be bothered with. I still have another 12 months on my L plates. Maybe next year. Besides, I wouldn't have wanted a novice like myself to put the rest of them to shame
