A mini-tour would be a good idea. I like the A1A to JDSP idea. A1A is hard to beat for a mini-tour route and JDSP is a nice destination for off road activities. And yeah, you sensed right about the off road stuff. Backpacking for me will depend on how coopertive the knee wants to be by that time but I wouldn't want to hold you or anyone back from whatever makes your wheels spin. There's lots else to do I can get into. Watching grass grow makes me happy
