So the problem isn't the saddle or that they are tights, but just a crappy low quality material that is being used. Not surprised, all the Pearl Izumu stuff I've ever used was pretty bad.
Actually I think it is the saddle. There is no visible wear on the tights except exactly where the perforations on the saddle meet the tights, right down to the shape of the perforation array. The tights' material is 94% polyester 6% spandex, and appears to be of high enough quality. If it was a smooth saddle I'm sure I'd have no issue. I was simply curious if others with this saddle have noticed it being hard on their polythermal tights, shorts, or whatever.
So far it looks like a $160 move to go to the smooth-top Aliante saddle, until a better deal pops up. I wonder if I could have a tailor sew on a new panel of poly/spandex when it wears through? Might be cheaper.
