It should drop into the small ring with one sweep. You may need to take it to the LBS to get it adjusted. My bike with Rival has always been an adventure getting into the big ring if the adjustment is not perfect. So far the bike with Force has had no issues but will rub the front derailleur slightly in the little ring in the two biggest gears.
