Yea, it works out really well for me. I use the shoulder strap to attach it to the bike. A couple wraps of the strap around the stem and clip it to the d rings on the bag. I had previously added some heavy duty stiffeners to the bag and was able to take them back out to save some weight with this arrangement.

That said the little rack has a pretty tiny platform and wouldn't work out well if you wanted to put a lot of bulky stuff there.
