Considering that you can get adjusters at other places on the bike...frame, in-line, at the shifter...saying that barrel adjusters are essential at the derailer is incorrect, isn't it? Barrel adjusters at the derailer are more convenient but if you have adjusters elsewhere, they aren't essential.
