FWIW I have a BorYeu rack on my Giant Exursion and a Jandd Extreme on my Giant Iguana. I use the Excursion for on road touring and the Iguana is being set up for some fire trail touring. I prefer the full rack as long as I have the option to low mount my panniers.

Ah, thanks for the education, I haven't been around long enough to know that... but a quick look at the photo tells me I can probably easily combine a traditional lowride with a basic front platform rack to mimic that set-up..
I have a nagaoka rack that is similar.
