Our local Radioshack doesn't seem to carry anything suitable. The connector that comes from the factory doesn't look that waterproof in the first place. It wasn't the water that killed this one, it was plain old repetitive stress from being connected and disconnected.
Mine seems pretty waterproof.
The strain is why I am very careful to ONLY grasp the connector part, and never apply any pressure to the wire itself. This is, of course, the proper way to take ANY connector apart - you should never pull on the wire.
