I initially bought the trainer mat for my rollers. The tile floor I train on is not perfectly even.
I was sold the swivel ring for the KK rock and roll since it(the trainer) had the side to side motion, the swivel is actuated on occasion. Not entirely necessary but it does work. I don't think you would need it for a stationary one.
