Looking for motivation
I've been reading this forum for a few weeks. I really need some exercise of some sort, and am trying to get back into the bicycle, and I rode around the neighborhood some yesterday. Our town, Chattanooga, has made some efforts to provide some sort of bike lanes, and "share the road" signs when the lanes run out. There is also this sort of tourist-y area downtown with an old bridge converted into walking and bikes and stuff, and next month, or so, they are supposed to open the final section of the "river walk" which is about a 10 mile path open to pedestrians and bikes along the river, and connecting to the aforementioned bridge. There's even a section of a bike lane running through part of my neighborhood, although the locals seem to want to park their cars in it. There's a whole lot of rural roads in North Georgia just a few miles south, and the Chickamauga Battlefield is a place where lots of families take their kids and more experienced riders park their cars and begin bigger bike rides all the time. I'm an over-50, so I enjoy reading some of that column, and my old Raleigh Record is from the late 70's so I find the vintage column pretty interesting -- I think tinkering was part of my motivation back in the day. So now, with apparently all kinds of places to ride, why am I struggling for motivation to do it? I think maybe finding time is just a whole lot harder than it used to be...
