Considering having this old Schwinn S-6 27" Tubular rim rebuilt. Bearings seem very smooth... they'd get close inspection before anything is done. Going on the permise the older things were better built than today... winter time riding sees #255 onto my bike with clothes.. looking for something that will LAST if maintained. Surface rim rust is minor.. polishes off easily.... never mind the rim weight.. seems to me with good stainless 14 guage spokes I'd get a strong long lasting rim. Your input and comments welcomed... thinking there's some practical experienced mechanics reading along here. Rebuild would be via an experienced pro... comments per hub quality appreciated too... pic enclosed. (Yes breaking isn't top drawer with these rims.. that can be tweaked)
Thanks!
Heard something once per 12 guage spokes.. would they exist for this application if available?
