My driveway is on a slight hill and when I got to it, I managed to unclip my left foot but didn't do so well with my right, which is the side that I step down on. Needless to say, over I went, twisting my foot, with my bike on tip of me. I am limping badly. My foot is grotesquely swollen and I am not so sure I want to try this again.
My husband tells me that I need to unclip both sides at once but that means having your pedals in just the right position. Should I be concentrating just on my right foot, the one that I step down on? Any advice? I need motivation.
Pardon me for asking, but why did you unclip your left foot if that's not the side you normally step down on? I
never unclip both feet until I'm done riding and actually getting off the bike. I always keep one foot clipped in until my other foot is planted on the ground.
Yes, you should be concentrating on your right foot. The way I stop is that I stand and unclip one foot and step down just as the bike stops the same way I would if I had nothing holding my feet to the pedals.
If you are having a hard time getting out of your pedals, you might try loosening the tension on them a bit.
