Tenacious Oil in Sturmey-Archer Hubs?
Sheldon Brown mentions using Phil Wood Tenacious Oil in S-A hubs. Does anyone here do that? I've always just used 10-30 motor oil, or whatever I'm putting in my car. Also, if anyone out there uses a chainsaw much, has anyone noticed the similarity between the Phil oil and chainsaw bar oil? They both have that "stringy" quality to keep them from flinging off under centrifugal force. (I'm now cutting my annual 6 cords of firewood for next year, so I've been noticing it.) I suspect that the Phil oil is basically the same product as bar oil. The difference is the the Phil oil costs 8 buck for 4 ounces, while bar oil is about 5 bucks a gallon. You can even get it in 20 or 40 weight, for summer or winter use.
Any engineering types have any thoughts on this?
