Carbon and Steel Frame

I have a 2007 Jamis Eclipse. The frame is a mix of lugged Reynolds 853 with carbon tubing.
My question: Is it possible to change out the carbon tubes with either another carbon tube or a steel tube? I'm not planning to do this--I like my bike, but it's just in case it breaks in a crash or becomes soft with time. We're assuming it would go to a frame builder for this.
