I cannot help but wonder if, in the southern California world of Hollywood, plastic surgery, and "status vehicles," this particular problem of "narcissistic rage" might be particularly rampant. I too have noticed the strange dichotomy of someone too impatient to drive behind a cyclist for a few hundred yards, yet so wrapped up in their mindset as to spend countless minutes trying to justify their dangerous actions.
I was actually confronted by a motorcyclist on the way to work one day that involved a narrow road along parked cars... I was 5 feet out and apparently "in his way." Later a former co-worker later explained that this person "had a thing" about his "fully dressed bike." If anything, it seemed to me that a bike and a motorcycle could easily share the road... I really was taken aback when the event occured.
